:: Carers NSW

Carers NSW is a state wide organisation that has carers as its primary focus. They work with carers, governments, business and the commmunity to get a better deal for carers. It is an association for relatives and friends who are caring for people with a disability, mental illness, chronic condition or who are frail aged.

2006 sees the third year of Women’s Golf NSW’s donation to the Carer’s Association of NSW through an event conducted statewide called the Goodwill Plate

The event is played at club level as a stroke competition open to all women playing in the Club Competition on that day. Each player contributes an extra $2.00 which is in turn donated to the Carer’s Association through WGNSW. The player with the best Nett score is declared the winner at Club Level, and all Club winners’ scores are forwarded to WGNSW to determine the State Winner of the Goodwill Plate.

The event originated as the Legacy Cup in 1948, where all proceeds aided the widows of war. In 2000, the direction of the event changed and it was agreed to assist a different charity, and from 2000-2004 the event supported Research into Breast Cancer.

For 2004 - 2006 the Board of WGNSW believed the Carer’s Association would value the contribution as it supports such a broad and diverse spectrum of the community and plays such a vital supportive role in today’s society.

The Goodwill Plate is always well supported by NSW Golf Clubs, with 125 clubs competing in 2005, raising in excess of $6,800 for the Association. Women’s Golf NSW is delighted to be associated with the Carer’s Association of NSW and hopes the donation from women golfers may go some way to assist in the important role of the Association.
